- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Trim and cut the green beans into very small pieces (about 1 cm). Steam or simmer the green beans and peas together for about 6–8 minutes until very soft; drain and let cool slightly.
- Peel the sweet potato and grate it finely. To make it soft more quickly, steam or microwave the grated sweet potato for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender, then let cool until warm.
- In a bowl, combine the minced turkey with the cooled, drained peas and chopped green beans and the grated sweet potato. Mix until evenly combined. There is no need to add salt; if you want a little flavour, a tiny pinch (a very small pinch) of dried mild herb such as oregano is optional for children over 10 months.
- With clean hands, shape the mixture into small finger-sized pieces about 5–7 cm long and 1–1.5 cm thick (easy for a toddler to hold). Place them on the lined baking tray with space between each piece.
- Bake for 18–25 minutes, until the turkey is fully cooked (no pink inside) and the outside is lightly golden. If you have a food thermometer, aim for an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F). The pieces should be soft when pressed but hold together.
- Remove from the oven and let cool to lukewarm. Check the inside of one piece to ensure it is cooked through and very soft—if still firm, return to the oven for a few more minutes.
- Serve as finger food for baby-led weaning. Offer one piece at a time and always supervise your toddler while eating. For safer handling, break or cut a sample piece into the size you expect your child to pick up to make sure it’s manageable and soft enough.

Allergies and cautions
Contains turkey (meat). No added salt or common allergens added in this version—check labels if using pre-prepared minced meat. Introduce new foods one at a time and watch for any signs of allergy. Always supervise your child while eating and ensure pieces are soft and an appropriate size for your child’s chewing and swallowing abilities.
Side effects and safety notes
Monitor for choking: ensure pieces are soft, easily mashed between your fingers and cool enough. If your child has known food allergies or medical conditions, consult your health visitor or paediatrician before introducing new foods.
