  1. Wash hands and clean a safe eating area. Use a firm, flat plate for serving.
  2. Cook the chicken: place the chicken in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook until fully cooked through and very tender (no pink inside, about 12–18 minutes depending on thickness). Remove, let cool enough to handle, then cut into long strips or batons about 5–7 cm long and roughly 1 cm thick so the baby can grasp them easily. For very young babies keep pieces larger to encourage grasping rather than small bits.
  3. Cook the carrot: peel and cut the carrot into thick sticks roughly 6–8 cm long and 1–2 cm wide. Steam or boil until very soft and fork-tender (about 10–15 minutes depending on size). Allow to cool until lukewarm.
  4. Cook the peas: steam or boil the peas until very soft (about 5–8 minutes). To reduce choking risk, gently press or mash some peas with the back of a fork so they split and become softer while still remaining solid (do not puree).
  5. Cook the brown rice pasta: follow the package instructions but cook until very soft while still holding its shape; smaller shapes should be left whole and longer shapes can be folded into loose bundles the baby can grab (about 8–12 minutes depending on the pasta). Drain and cool to lukewarm.
  6. Assemble the plate: arrange a small selection of items (1–2 chicken strips, 1–2 carrot sticks, a few pieces of pasta and some lightly crushed peas) so the baby can choose and pick up pieces. Serve at lukewarm temperature. Offer one new food at a time if introducing individually.
  7. Feeding guidance and safety: Always supervise closely while the baby eats, ensure the baby is sitting upright and can hold their head. For babies under 6 months check readiness with your pediatrician—baby-led weaning is usually begun around 6 months. Never add salt, sugar, oil or other seasonings. If the baby gags it is normal; do not force or leave the baby unattended.

Summary:
This is a simple baby-led weaning lunch using only brown rice pasta, carrot, chicken and peas. Textures are kept soft but solid so the baby can grasp and bite.

Storing:
Cool leftovers quickly and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Reheat thoroughly until steaming hot then cool to lukewarm before serving. Do not refreeze cooked chicken/pasta more than once.

Allergies & introduction:
Contains chicken (poultry) and peas (legume). When introducing new foods, offer one new food at a time and wait 3–5 days to watch for adverse reactions such as rash, vomiting or diarrhea.

Side effects & safety:
Choking is the main risk—always supervise, offer appropriately sized soft pieces, and know infant CPR. If you observe signs of an allergic reaction (hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, persistent vomiting) seek emergency help immediately.
