  1. Wash hands and place your baby sitting upright in a high chair with close supervision.
  2. Rinse 80 g blackberries under cold running water and pat dry on kitchen paper. Discard any damaged or very hard berries.
  3. Rinse 80 g kiwi. Peel the kiwi using a knife or peeler and cut into thick sticks or wedges about 1–1.5 cm wide so your toddler can grasp them easily (avoid very small pieces).
  4. For the blackberries: if they are large or very firm, cut each in half lengthwise to reduce choking risk; if small and very ripe and soft, you may leave them whole so your child can pick them up.
  5. Arrange the kiwi sticks and prepared blackberries on a plate so they are easy for your toddler to pick up. Encourage self-feeding and stay within arms reach to supervise every mouthful.
  6. Serve immediately or keep chilled for a short time. Do not leave your toddler unattended while eating.
Summary

Toddler-friendly, no-cook finger-food snack of peeled kiwi sticks and halved or whole ripe blackberries suitable for baby-led weaning from 10 months. Soft, easy-to-hold pieces encourage independent feeding and exploration of textures and natural sweetness.

Storing

Store any leftover prepared fruit in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours for best texture and flavour. Whole unprepared fruit will keep longer, but prepared pieces will soften—avoid freezing and re-serving thawed pieces to a young child.

Allergies and side effects

Watch for signs of allergic reaction, especially with kiwi (oral itching, rash, swelling, vomiting). If this is the first time offering kiwi, introduce a small amount and wait 48 hours before offering other new foods. Always supervise to reduce choking risk and ensure your toddler is seated upright. If you are concerned about choking risk, cut fruit into larger sticks or consult your paediatrician.
